To start off the new year, I’m pleased to have just added a new essay to the Rengay and Essays pages, titled “The Place of Rengay in Tanka Journals.” It seems that tanka poets are finding the interplay of adjacent rengay verses to be somewhat tanka-like. As a result, rengay have found a home in at least one tanka journal, Skylark, and this short essay of mine explores the place of rengay in the context of tanka. At the very least, it’s good to see another outlet for rengay out there. And speaking of which, I’ve also just posted “Seeing the Light” on the Rengay page. This is a rengay I wrote with Sonja Arntzen, and it just appeared, along with the essay, in the Winter 2015 issue of Skylark. Happy new year!
