Poets Wanted: Dead or Alive
In 2013 I started a presentation series as poet laureate for the city of
Redmond, Washington. These free presentations have gone from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
at the Redmond Regional Library, and have featured biographical details, the reading
and discussion of key poems by each poet, plus video interpretations (from
YouTube) of the poet’s poetry, biographical information, or other information. We
have occasionally scheduled special guests, such as students of Octavio Paz and
Theodore Roethke, or have had unexpected guests, such as a poet and translator
who came to the Rumi presentation dressed somewhat like Rumi, and helping to
share the poems in the original language, plus his translations. The following
is a list of past presentations. I can give these presentations at other
locations at any time. 2013–2014 30 October
