Haiku on Buses 2014

In 2014, I had one of my haiku selected for Seattle’s Poetry on Buses program, sponsored by 4Culture and King Count Metro, featuring short poems by residents of King County, Washington. On 10 November 2014, I attended a reading of selected winners from the 2014–2015 Poetry on Buses program at the Moore Theatre in Seattle. Here’s my poem, submitted for the “home” theme:

half moon

traveling with me

away from home

This haiku was the featured poem on the Poetry on Buses website on 29 October 2015. In 2014 and 2015, this poem was also displayed as a bus placard, as the following photos show. It appeared on a RapidRide Poetry Bus (an entire bus dedicated to poetry) departing the East Base that serves Line B in Bellevue and Redmond, and a RapidRide Bus departing the South Base that serves Lines A and F in Tukwila, Federal Way, Burien, and Renton. It may have also appeared on other buses and at RapidRide bus stations. See also “Haiku on Buses 2007.” +
