Bill Higginson, Friend and Mentor

Post date: Feb 04, 2013 6:35:6 AM

I first met William J. Higginson more than twenty years ago. He was a leader in English-language haiku, and someone I looked up to as a mentor and fellow writer. He was also a dear friend, whose talents spanned the writing of poetry, books and essays of criticism and scholarly work, and also translation. I invite you to read my appreciation for Bill, written for the memorial for him held at the 2009 Haiku North America conference in Ottawa. Please read “Remembering Bill Higginson,” new to my Haibun page (as a memorial haibun of sorts), and also linked to from the Essays page.
