Crossing Borders with Haiku

On 24 February 2012, Hiraeth Press of Massachusetts published Ian Marshall’s Border Crossings: Walking the Haiku Path on the International Appalachian Trail. It was my privilege to write the book’s foreword, titled “Fresh Seeing on the International Appalachian Trail,” which I’ve just added to the Essays page. Ian’s book is a marvelous melding of haibun and eco-criticism that explores some of the more pressing issues in recent haiku aesthetics.
