Editing and Ambiguity

I’ve added a short postscript to a dozen-year-old essay of mine about haiku, titled “Be Your Own Editor” (in the Essays section). It amplifies the matter of ambiguity in haiku as it relates to intended audiences. The challenge is to write haiku for yourself yet not alienate your audience—especially if you want to share your haiku. Ultimately, to communicate effectively in haiku, to make the poem a powerful transfer of energy, it helps to know your audience. Please check out this essay and its new postscript!
