Haiku Titles

James Shea (not to be confused with the haiku poet Martin Shea), some time ago published a longer poem titled “Haiku” consisting of numerous titles for unwritten poems. I’ve just added this intriguing poem to the Poems by Others page. If the titles he uses in his poem don’t make you want to write a poem for each title, then I don’t know what will! His choice of “Haiku” as his title also makes us think about the nature of haiku, especially when a haiku itself never has a title. Perhaps the effect of a title is similar to the effect of a haiku—partial, an opening up, an invitation.
