Quotations on Poetry

Newly added to the Quotations page is “Poetential: Notes on The Virgin of Bennington,” which features “best bit” quotations from this engaging memoir by Kathleen Norris. The book makes great reading for any established poet, especially if you’re curious to know more about the Academy of American Poets, its longtime executive director, Betty Kray, and the many public poetry programs that she instituted and inspired in New York City and across the country. The quotations collected here are among my favourites for their revelations about poetry, many of which are also applicable to haiku.
