What’s not to love about Marco? Except when he’s being snarky. Okay, even then. Marco has a heart of gold, which you think would be dangerous, with all the gold thieves lurking about. He can write a not-half-bad haiku, and gets some nice books out the door now and then. Another good thing about Marco is that I’m not older than he is, so I haven’t lost nearly as much of my mind. I don’t remember when I first met Marco (does that mean the encounter was forgettable?), but it was probably at a Haiku Canada weekend. What a thrill to be included in his Hexagram haiku book series, and a thrill, too, to receive one of Marco’s numbered haiku cards in the mail. I’ve saved them all, and no, not for kindling. Keep on trucking, Marco, and keep on plunking those ivories. And keep on writing for another 80 years. You might have an awesome haiku still left in you.
