From No Longer Strangers
In 2014, Haiku Northwest published No Longer Strangers, its 25th anniversary anthology, available on Amazon. I did all the layout, design, and text editing, and the book won second place in the 2015 Merit Book Awards sponsored by the Haiku Society of America. Cover and interior artwork by Dejah Léger. The following are my three poems in the book. See the No Longer Strangers page on the Haiku Northwest website. her first report card—
a row of plum trees
beginning to pink
fading light—
I pop a kelp bladder
for my absent son
a change of tides—
the rowboat aground
in a different place
