From The Jade Pond

In late 2017, the Vancouver Haiku Group published The Jade Pond, edited by Angela Naccarato and Jacqueline Pearce (available on Amazon). Its poems celebrate Vancouver’s Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, and the launch reading took place there, in the Hall of One Hundred Rivers, on 20 January 2018 (see my photos, a few of which appear below, as does the event poster). The following are my four seasonal poems from the anthology. In order, they were previously published in Woodnotes (1995), Haiku Canada Review (2008), Frogpond (2001), and Northwest Literary Forum (1994). The last poem originally appeared with “flower bed” instead of “pine,” but I customized the poem for this anthology to connect it more with the garden.
