Haiku has been called a one-breath poem. Or, to give it more intensity, we can approach it as a last-breath poem. That’s the feeling here, not of slightness but of fullness, recognizing the less-is-more necessities of haiku in each breath we take, because this one might be our last. This collection salutes times of day, times of year, and times of life, never taking any breath for granted.
